The Student Alumni Interaction Cell(SAIC) is committed to protecting your personal information. The complete database is secured using industry-standard security protocols. No user can access the data without appropriate permissions. Information like education, employment etc is public but personal information like your email ID and mobile number are private by default and nobody can see that information without your explicit permission.
The policy sets out the different areas where user privacy is concerned and outlines the obligations & requirements of the users, the website and website owners. Furthermore, the way this website processes, stores and protects user data and information will also be detailed within this policy. We take a proactive approach to user privacy and ensure the necessary steps are taken to protect the privacy throughout their visiting experience. Whenever you access saic.iitbhu.ac.in to use the services offered by us, you are required to enter your basic information such as name, email, address and phone number.
Profile Personal Form – Gender, email, mobile number, date of birth, family basic information and address.
Profile Relationship with IIT BHU – your relation with IIT(BHU), college affiliation, year of graduation, department, course, roll no. , college email id, hostels stayed in, nick name during college, clubs and fests you were associated with.
Profile Professional Affiliation – Organizations worked for, current organization, office address, office contact information, your social handles profile link to connect with you.
We use a variety of sources to gather information about you. A substantial portion of the information we preserve is that which you have provided to us, either during profile registration, registering for an event, communicating with us, or making a donation. For IIT (BHU), Varanasi students and alumni, your personal information is collected and transferred to the Office of Resource and Alumni Affairs from Office of Academic Affairs records when you enroll at IIT (BHU), Varanasi.
We use your personal information to perform the below listed functions all in support for the development of the Institute and its mission. Specifically, we use your personal information to:
1. Keep you updated with news about your college, department, or other areas wherein you have shown an interest, e.g. by making a donation, attending an event, or becoming a member/friend.
2. Provide services, including access to University and College facilities ( e.g. https://saic.iitbhu.ac.in/services).
3. Invite you to alumni-directed and other Institute events.
4. Send you tailored proposals, appeals and requests for donations.
5. Promote other opportunities and services available to you (e.g. offers and opportunities available through the Institute’s network of Alumni Groups)
6. Manage any feedback or complaints.
7. Create classifications and groupings (through manual or automated analyses) in order to best direct engagement activities.
8. Identify and profile potential volunteers, alumni ambassadors and event attendees.
9. Perform administrative tasks and for internal record keeping purposes.

SAIC uses technical and physical security measures to protect your personal information. Only authenticated users with specific permissions may access the data using a virtual private network. We use firewalls and regular monitoring to evaluate any attempts at accessing the systems without permission. However, you must be aware that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100 percent secure.
We will not share your data with third parties except :
1. As required by the law.
2. As necessary to protect the institute’s interest.
3. In instances that you permit OR in accordance with your consent.
Whenever your information is shared, we will always seek to share the minimum amount of information necessary to fulfil the purpose, this includes the use of anonymised or pseudonymised data where that is sufficient.
We consider our relationship with IIT (BHU) community to be lifelong. This means that we will maintain a record of you until the time you tell us that you no longer wish us to keep in touch.
